Welcome to AndroidAppCritic.com, my name is Avi. I created AndroidAppCritic.com to assist those seeking the right applications for their Android powered devices. As a longtime user of various mobile devices, as well as Web software developer, I am in a unique position to provide in depth reviews on the plethora of applications currently available for Android devices. While you can always download an application from the Android Marketplace on your device and test it for yourself, this Web site aims to provide its readers with a unique insight into the various applications available. Additionally, while you are given the ability to return paid applications within a twenty-four hour period, there are oftentimes when that simply is not enough time to make a proper, well thought out decision.
I spend my own money on applications and test them on my time to provide you with a detailed account of the application along with screencaps so that you may make a more informed decision before you decide to purchase an application. I live with an application for several days, or even weeks if necessary, to bring you the best possible reviews. While I may from time to time accept an application from a developer free of charge, my reviews are independent in their nature. To keep my reviews honest and impartial, I do not accept payment of any kind for my reviews. Regardless of whether or not I paid for, or was given and application, my opinion will be based solely upon how I feel when I use the application. (As this site is still new, I have not received any applications for free. However, if and when I do, I will clearly note this at the beginning of the review so that you are informed.) So rest assured that my reviews are unbiased and truthful. I hope that you will find my reviews insightful, but most importantly, helpful.
While I will make every attempt to include reviews of applications in a wide variety of categories, I am in some ways limited to what fits with my lifestyle and understanding. An example would be an instant messaging application. While I do not use these on the regular basis, I am confident that I can accurately review these types of applications. A quick note on Android’s infancy. While many applications run very smoothly, there are times when the operating system and the hardware on which it is installed is not as perfected as will be in future releases. Given that Android, at the time of this writing, has only been out for about nine months, I will do my best to judge applications in this context. That being said, Android users have come to expect a certain level of usability and I will judge applications by this standard. As the OS grows in both maturity and popularity, these review guidelines will be tightened along with that growth.
